Following lengthy negotiation between the Auto Cycle Union Ltd (ACU) and the Land Owners of the historic Foxhill Moto Park circuit near Swindon, a five year lease has been agreed. It was seen as vital that the ACU were able to come to an agreement to safe guard one of the most iconic circuits in British and International MX History.
The Swindon circuit has been carved into the white chalk valley since the mid 1980’s and hosted a number of 125cc and 250cc World Championship events during the 90’s as well as the prestigious Motocross des Nations in 1998.
This new lease will see the Circuits future secured for Club and National events. Foxhill and its large Paddocks and Car Parking field makes it an ideal location for smaller and large scale events.
One of the first things that the ACU will be looking to do to Circuit is change and alter the layout so that it is more suited to all levels of competitive racing.
ACU Chairman, Brian Higgins commented, “Obviously, we are delighted to be in a position to ensure Motocross at all levels continues at this high profile circuit. Whilst it is likely that the Maxxis British Championship series will visit the venue consistently for the next five years, the ACU will also work with our local clubs to allow grass roots events to enjoy the circuit as well. Over the summer months, some of the jumps will be tamed down a little to make the circuit more Clubman friendly, but the general layout will remain the same. I am really excited about the whole project”.
The venue is available to all clubs, but the 2013 season is nearly fully booked. For more information about hiring the famous Foxhill Circuit, please contact Sonia Goggin at the ACU on 01788 566404 or via email on [email protected]
