After a stunning ride for 3rd place in the opening moto of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship, ASA United GASGAS rider Ivo Monticelli was unfortunately involved in a second moto pile-up that brought a red flag to race two. The team sent out this update today on the Italian’s condition.

“We are disappointed to share that Ivo Monticelli has sustained a shoulder injury following an early crash in the second MX1 race at Oakhanger. Unfortunately, Ivo’s prognosis does involve a small surgery scheduled for the 29th March in Belgium; it will of course take some time for Ivo to rehabilitate, and be ready to once again race in the UK.
“As a team, it is a heavy blow to our 2023 MX1 campaign and hopes of clinching a premier class title. As realists, we are aware of the risks involved each week and recognise that these things can and do happen. As Ivo’s friends, we hope his surgery goes well and that his recovery is a quick and easy one.
“Ivo has been instrumental in the team’s preparation for this season, his raw speed and experience has been invaluable for all of our riders and personnel; his absence at the races will be felt and we hope to see him back for Round 4 of the British Championship.
“We hope you will all join us in wishing Ivo well, and we will see you all at Oakhanger once again for Round One of the MX Nationals.”
Sadly that means he will miss rounds two and three at Canada Heights and Lyng, returning at Foxhill on the 14th of May.
