Following the horrific weather that battered Matterley Basin overnight and caused the Sky Box to topple over, Steve Dixon has released a statement reminding everyone why he put the Grand Prix of Great Britain. It’s only right that his statement is shared.

“Let’s just remember a few days ago. Yes, the wind has caused damage but we remain positive for a great day’s racing tomorrow. Please remember the weather this year is abnormal, normally it’s good weather here. I don’t want people to feel sorry for me I had to make the decision of running the GP or no GP and this is the tenth GP here so let’s put all the negatives in a box and take advantage that this wind has blown us sunshine tomorrow and hopefully a good day’s racing. It could have been worse, the coronavirus could have seen no GP. Who knows the future? See you all tomorrow.”

Infront Moto Racing just released the updated schedule for the Grand Prix of Great Britain. The MXGP and MX2 riders will now have a single timed session that will dictate gate position for tomorrow.

Storm Jorge scores the first point against the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship! Due to extremely heavy winds that have overturned the Sky Box structure (seriously), racing on day one at the Grand Prix of Great Britain has been delayed until 11:45am. The news was announced by the official British Motocross Grand Prix page this morning.

“Due to high winds the FIM have made the decision to push all bike activity on track back until 11.45 so, because of this, we will now be opening the car park/camping between 10:00 and 10.30. We understand the frustration and hopefully you can delay leaving for a few hours or find somewhere warm locally until lunchtime. We will keep you updated as information comes to us. Please share!”

A revised schedule has not been published yet. Stay tuned to MX Vice for more updates on the Grand Prix of Great Britain. For what it is worth, the forecast actually doesn’t look too bad for this afternoon.
