The Motul Fastest 40 series powered by Michelin gets underway this weekend at the iconic Foxhill circuit in Wiltshire (April 20th & 21st). The team who has decades of event experience, rebranded at the end of last season and are excited to return with its all-new format of Pro Saturday, Amateur Sunday.
There is a stacked gate in the ACU Apico 2-stroke Festival British 125 class, with six rounds being run at the Fastest 40 and two rounds at the Apico 2-stroke festival in August. Commencing their rookie season in the class is last year’s supermini Champion Josh Vail alongside several of his former rivals including Jamie Keith, Jake Walker, and Charlie Richmond, with no age limit to the class they will be lining up with seasoned racers in their pursuit of the British title. No doubt about it, these guys will leave nothing on the line when the gate drops.
In the Apico MX1 class it will be eyes down for Conrad Mewse as he lines up to defend his title joined by Crendon Tru7 Honda racing teammate Taylor Hammal. This race is filled with the crème de la crème of talent on the British MX scene, including Martin Barr, Sam Nunn, Tom Grimshaw, Jamie Carpenter and Ashley Greedy to name a few!
Wrapping up the Saturday action is the Leatt MX2 class and there is everything to race for. Dirt Store Kawasaki will be looking to be in contention with Tommy Searle & Joel Rizzi from the DirtStore Kawasaki Team as will last year’s podium champions Joe Brooks and Jamie Wainwright who are both returning to compete. Also making an appearance is Charlie Cole and Charlie Heyman and former British Champion Kristian Whatley and Elliott Banks Browne. Last year’s final race saw four riders take it to the wire in a nail-biting finish and we anticipate this year won’t be much different judging by the stacked field!
On Sunday all eyes turn to the Amateur action and all eyes will be on last year’s front runners Darren Manning Coe, Billy Saunders, and Alex Christopher, will they pull it out the bag or will have new contenders in the Oakley MX1 Clubman class racing for that British title.
The RFX MX2 British title is up for grabs as former champion Matt Tolley has made the move up to the all-new for 2024 Honda Cup. After last season’s performance Aaron Framingham and Matt Pocock would be the bookies favourites but there is plenty of competition in this 40 strong line up.
Moving on to the Fly MX1 Amateur class with another British title up for the taking, as the former 2023 champion has moved classes to compete in the Honda Cup. Josh Greedy and Sean Wainwright will be up amongst it when the gate drops.
In the Bell MX2 Amateur class Daniel Brough will no doubt have his sights set on that British title. We are sure he won’t be the only one, but with so much newness to this class it’s hard to know who to edge your bets on.
The all new for 2024 Honda Cup is heating up, and you have to be in it to win it and there is plenty of prizes on offer, including the chance to win a brand-new bike! This is anyone’s race, with two former 2023 series champions in the form of Luke Mellows and Matt Tolley and Eva Banks and Anya Colley representing the ladies, alongside the likes of Adam Chatfield, Ben White and a guest appearance from Graeme Irwin all battling it out on the track it in true mx style.
Gates open to the venue at 12 noon on Friday, April 19th.
