Taddy completes perfect Endurocross season

KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak has put the finsihing touches to what has been a truly remarkable 2011 Endurocross campaign by dominating the final two rounds of the series in Las Vegas, NV, to win a third successive Endurocross championship.

Headed into the last round of the series, and the only event to feature two point-scroing main events, Taddy held a commanding championship advantage and needed little time to show exactly why he’s been the year’s stand-out performer. Although not posting the fastest time during the qualifying Hot Lap session, Blazusiak once again comfortably won his heat race to transfer into the main events.

Knowing that just a handful of points woud be enough from the first of the night’s two finals to see him crowned champion for a third year running, Taddy took an instand lead and quickly asserted himself at the front of the race. With 10 punishing laps to complete Taddy remained mistake free and in reaching the chequered flag first brought his 2011 Endurocross campaign to a deservedly successful close. With the championship his Taddy was then able to race the second main event safe in the knowledge that no matter what happened the championship was his.

Making light work of the course and his rivals Blazusiak was soon out front in the second main event going on to make it eight main event wins from eight starts in 2011, cementing his position as the world’s fastest indoor enduro racer.

Taddy now turns his attentions to the opening round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, which starts next weekend, November 26, in Genoa Italy.

Taddy: ‘Winning the final two main events of the championship is the perfect way to end the series. It’s been an amazing championship and to get my third Endurocross #1 plate is just great – I have to say a massive thank you to everyone that’s been involved in my championship success. I kept working hard coming into this race so I felt pretty confident, but the track was tight and I knew the racing was going to be close. Thankfully, everything went pretty much perfectly. I got two great starts, didn’t make any mistakes, and managed to complete a perfect season of eight main event wins. I’m so pleased that I’ve been able to win the championship, it’s been one hell of a year and to get another AMA title is just fantastic. I head straight back to Europe now for the opening race of the SuperEnduro World Championship this coming weekend, which I’m really looking forward to.’
