Information |
– The Hawkstone International is held in the United Kingdom in February. It is going to be cold, accept it. It is not going to rain, according to forecasts, so that is positive. It is going to be exceptionally cold though, as four degrees is the highest that the temperature will reach on race day. It is going to be quite windy too, which will undoubtedly make things a little bleaker.
– How much does it cost to get into the venue? Each adult must pay £30 on the gate, as tickets cannot be purchased in advance, then those between five and fifteen must pay £5. Those prices include free parking and access to the paddock. What about camping? That opens at midday on Saturday and each pitch costs £30.
– How can you get to the historic circuit of Hawkstone Park? SY4 4NA is the postcode to punch into your navigation system. The circuit is just off of the A49 near Hopton, Wem, Prees, Shawbury and Whitchurch. If you are in need of a hotel, Telford is an ideal location and not too far from the venue.
– What else do you need to know? If you are camping, no one can enter the facility after eleven at night. All music and generators must be switched off at that time also. Presumably a lot of you will travel up in the morning though, as camping in this weather would be a very brave move.
– If you are hoping to follow the action from the comfort of your own home, we may be able to help. We will be attempting to run our regular live updates across race day. The connection at Hawkstone Park is simply terrible, however, so it remains to be seen if that will restrict us. We will obviously try everything possible to get those out there.

This Sunday (March 3) the Dutch motocross season will start at the Herselse Bossen circuit in Lierop. The field of racers is getting stronger and stronger and it promises to be a really high-level race.

The MX2 class is full of young and motivated riders and Lucas and Sacha Coenen will join them for Lierop. These talented twins regularly impressed in the MX2 World Championship last year and Lucas won his first Grand Prix in Indonesia at the age of sixteen.
A fifth place was his share in the final standings and he certainly wants to improve on that this year. Sacha also regularly showed that he has the speed to compete at the front. Highlights were his second place in the qualifying heat in Finland and top five finishes in the Czech Republic and Sweden.
In the deep sand of Lierop, the Coenen brothers will compete against riders like Kay de Wolf, Cas Valk, Hakon Osterhagen, Max Werner, Scott Smulders, Bradley Mesters, Hakon Fredriksen, Oriol Oliver and others.
Also in the 500 class we get fireworks with the participation of Jeffrey Herlings, Jago Geerts, Pauls Jonass, Calvin Vlaanderen, Brent van Doninck and others.
The weather forecast looks good, so the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop has all the ingredients to see a great day of racing.
