Punishment: Aaron Plessinger

Following impressive showings in both Glendale and Oakland, Aaron Plessinger entered round six of Monster Energy Supercross with an eight-point lead in the series standings. That was cut in half this past weekend, however, as he made some mistakes in the main event and was eventually penalised by the AMA (American Motorcycling Association).

No official announcement has been made by the AMA just yet, but the official results clearly state that number twenty-three was “penalised one position” after the main event. What went on there exactly? Plessinger crashed whilst attempting to push forward and cut the track slightly when he remounted, hence why action was taken. Plessinger was eventually credited with eighth in the main event and added fifteen points to his championship total.

Joey Savatgy is his closest challenger in the class and finished fourth in the main event last night. Although that cannot be referred to as a terrific result, he did gain significant ground on a night that started off in a rather disappointing fashion. Shane McElrath is third in the standings and sixteen points down.
