Insight: Masterful Kay de Wolf gunning for more glory in Germany
Read here.

The sense of relief, joy and excitement was evident as Kay de Wolf crossed the finish line in the second moto at Latvia to secure his first ever MX2 overall victory.

Having come so close in the past, it was fitting he marked the occasion by going 1-1 even if he needed some luck in the finale, in what was a day to remember for the Dutch sensation.
When speaking after the race, his outpouring of emotion was fantastic to watch, with it clear to see how much this moment meant to him after all his hard work over the years to get to this point.
Seeing as he also triumphed in the qualification race, this ensured the #74 secured maximum points to not only stamp his authority on his adversaries, but also to grab the coveted red plate.
“This is amazing. I have the red plate and finally got my first overall win as an MX2 rider. We had to wait a while for this, but we kept on fighting. I need to give a lot of credit to the Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing team. It is an amazing team and we always push forward. I am excited to go racing again in Germany,” he insisted.

Ray Archer
A win that was a long time coming for the man in his third year in MX2 and competing in his 41st GP, he’ll be hoping this is the catalyst for the floodgates to open. Indeed, with Jago Geerts still on the sidelines for the immediate future, the MXGP of Germany offers another tremendous opportunity to flex his muscles over title rivals Thibault Benistant and Andrea Adamo.
Even though the hard pack surface at Teutschenthal doesn’t suit him as much as the soft stuff, there’s no doubting he’ll still be a force to be reckoned with, for he’s a complete package on a range of terrain.
By the numbers this term, his six moto podiums, four overall podiums, three moto wins, two qualifying race wins and seven top five overalls have illustrated his admirable consistency and capacity to rack up the points.
The challenge now will be maintaining this momentum, but being in such a fantastic framework and in an ideal environment for success under the Nestaan awning, plus working alongside masterful trainer Ruben Tureluren, everything is in place for him to keep along his upward curve.
Unquestionably one of the most gifted riders on the planet, primed for a full assault on the 2023 MX2 crown and with a massive future ahead of him, however his career pans out, he’ll always look back on his maiden victory in Latvia with immense satisfaction in a performance that emphatically underlined why the sky’s the limit for what he can achieve in the sport.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing ace Andrea Adamo clinched the MX2 World Championship on home soil following a consistent and intelligent effort at Maggiora. Handling the pressure and weight of expectation admirably, this served as a testament to his discipline, maturity and calculated approach.
Here’s a typed up version of what he had to say in the post-race press conference. Thanks to Lorenzo Resta for providing the recording.
Press Conference: How was it to win the title at home in Maggiora, must be really special?
Andrea Adamo: It was fun to win here, you know, most of the week my aim was to try to win the championship today actually. I’m really, really happy about my two races. I did two really consistent races. Unfortunately I didn’t always get good starts – actually really bad starts. And I missed Jago and Simon because I believe that maybe I could fight with them, you know. For me, it was really what I wanted to do because I just want to enjoy my races and stuff. And not to think too much, which isn’t easy. But, today, somehow, I don’t know why, I was doing it quite well, not thinking too much and just enjoying my races.
But yeah, the only thing that I could do was to fight for three and three, and I’m really happy about it.
Yeah, I mean, for sure it was more special than maybe winning it in Matterley. It’s really a dream come true. And also, somebody said to me that the first title of Antonio was the 17th of September, so that’s quite cool.Â
PC: Thank you very much, and congratulations on winning the MX2 World Championship.Â
AA: Thank you.
PC: In the second race did you know you won or were you not sure?
AA: No, actually, I knew that I was the champion because I saw at the finish line that I lapped Liam. And that’s just not nice. I didn’t want him to finish like this, you know, but it’s motocross and this can happen. I hope that he’s fine.
But yeah, it was an unbelievable day for me. Finally, my dream came true. And maybe I was also a bit lucky during the season. But always every race I did what I could – not more. I’m quite good at accepting when somebody else is faster than me. So that’s what I did all season, and yeah, now I’m world champion.
PC: Congratulations, I wouldn’t say it’s lucky. I think you were really consistent the whole way through and you kept going race after race even sometimes with bad results, but you still kept going.
AA: Yeah, actually, I had some bad races. I mean, it’s a World Championship of 19 races and you can’t be the same at all the races. Not all of the tracks are the same, not every day you feel the same. But one thing that is for sure is that I give my best every day. Sometimes when I give my best it’s P2, sometimes it’s P5 and sometimes it’s also P1. But I give my best everyday, that’s for sure.
