A lot happens between each Maxxis British Championship round, as the riders travel far and wide to partake in some of the alternative series that are run. That, of course, means that injuries can strike at any moment, as a handful of riders have found out recently. You can catch up on all of the health problems that certain riders have encountered in this regular feature.
Out of Canada Heights
Jake Nicholls: Jake Nicholls was at his very best, but an unfortunate incident at the Grand Prix of Trentino has robbed him of a shot at the MX1 title. Nicholls dislocated his hip, despite the fact that he never crashed, and is out indefinitely.
Dylan Woodcock: Dylan Woodcock will miss the next two rounds at least, after breaking a bone in his foot after Lyng. “Really gutted,” he wrote on social media. “I had a practice crash and broke a bone in my foot, so I will be out for a little while. Really sorry to everyone that puts a lot of time and effort in.“
Jamie Carpenter: After crashing in the first turn at Lyng, Jamie Carpenter sustained a long list of injuries. A torn ACL, damaged MCL and third-degree burn have ended his term prematurely. There is currently no word on whether REVO Husqvarna will look for a fill-in rider.
Tommy Searle: A lot of fans were hoping to see Tommy Searle at Canada Heights, seeing as he got back on a bike a little over a week ago. ‘100’ will not race this weekend, however, but we should see him at Hawkstone Park in two weeks.
Jason Meara: It remains to be seen whether Jason Meara will race this weekend, as he has only just recovered from a broken collarbone. He is going to skip the event, according to the entry list, but that is not always accurate.
Jack Brunell: Jack Brunell, of the ASA Scaffolding team, broke his thumb at Preston Docks in March. “Gutted, was feeling better on the bike,” he wrote on social media. There is currently no timetable on his return.
James Dunn: James Dunn will be out for the foreseeable, unfortunately, as he has decided to step away from racing for a brief period. “After the concussion I sustained last year it took a long time and was very difficult to recover fully,” he wrote on social media. “Unfortunately this has put my racing on pause for a while.” Dunn plans on making a return towards the end of the year.
Jordan Booker: Jordan Booker is getting closer to a return, after injuring his knee at the end of last season. Hawkstone Park will more than likely be the earliest that we see ‘114′. Booker finished eighth in the series last year and achieved a season-best finish of fourth at the penultimate round.
Liam Garland: Following some difficult injuries, Liam Garland has elected to walk away from racing at the highest level. All of us at MX Vice wish him well.
