The season is over, the champions have been crowned and this can only mean one thing. It is beach-race season. This weekend MX Vice will be heading down to the HydroGarden Beach Race, powered by KTM, to get stuck in with some of the beach-race action and to catch up with some of the UK’s best youth and amateur riders.
After his AMCA and IMBA success this year, we caught up with Josh Waterman ahead of this weekend’s gruelling racing. A rather excited Waterman said, “I can’t wait! It is the first time I have given myself a proper chance of getting a good result. In previous years I’ve raced with a small fuel tank on or I’ve been riding a 250 two-stroke and it just doesn’t match up to the 450s down the straights. Big thank you to everyone who has helped in such a short time, you know who you are! I can’t wait to have a good solid result and most of all a lot of fun.“
Josh will be racing on the Sunday in the Adult Solo category. Todd Kellett took the win last year, with David Knight and Martin Barr hot on his tail. Can Kellett sustain his beach-race glory? Will Jamie Wainwright challenge him? It is all to play for!
We also have a mix of youth riders racing, with 65s and 85s in action on the Saturday, including quads and some demonstrations from the Extreme Mountain Bike team and world-record wheelie champion Dougie Lampkin performing some trials shows across the whole weekend.
Keep an eye on the MX Vice youth and amateur page for live updates across the weekend.
