Dan Thornhill Race Report – British Masters

This weekend we took a short trip to Brookthorpe in Gloucester for the 6th Round of the Wulfsport British Masters.

Again, I used the Saturday as a little practice competing in the two Amateur MX2 races to warm myself up.  Scoring a 1-2 scorecard I felt good with the track and looked forward to racing in the PRO’s.

Sunday morning was soon around and with some overnight rain and the track rotavated to perfection. The track was in its best state.  Finding some good speed I managed to put myself 6th in MX2 and as both PRO classes were mixed I ended up 14th in the combined class.

Moto 1; started hard being out dragged on the slight uphill start I found myself banging bars in midpack of the race.  Pushing throughout the whole 25min +1 lap Moto I slotted into 4th MX2 before at three quarter distance I made a move for 3rd and ended up settling for a solid 3rd MX and 13th in the combined race.

Moto 2; started better for me pushing the little 250 around the first few corners to be slotted inside the top 10.  Again pushing on as hard as I could I tried my best to stay where I was in the pack.  Struggling throughout the race with a damaged rear brake I found myself trying my upmost to hang in there.  Dropping back a few positions I managed 6th in MX2 and 19th in the combined race.

Again I would just like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who still continues to support me.  I tried to enter for the British Grand Prix this coming weekend at Matterley Basin.  But unfortunately I have not been chosen to compete so my next event is the Redbull Pro Nationals at Hawkstone park.
