This weekend was Round 3 of the Wulfsport British Masters at a very distant Whitby! Leaving early Friday morning to make a family weekend of it we arrived at the track midday and it was looking a bit wet from the rain leading up to the event!
Waking up Saturday morning the track looked completely different rotovated and prepared well I could not wait to get out there and ride!
Competing in the Youth and Pros; Saturday was a warm up for the Pros on Sunday! Qualifying went well, setting the fastest lap and feeling really at home with the track.
Hole-shotting the first race and putting in some solid laps early on I was able to settle down and ride a smooth race for the win at the flag.
Moto 2 didn’t work out as simple as the first Moto. Under judging the gate dropping I just caught it with my front wheels as it fell. As if setting off dead last wasn’t enough I made another mistake jarring the front brake on in turn two causing me to fall. Getting back on I then had to play around with the lever as the front brake was jammed on. Setting off quite far behind the rest of the pack I had my work cut out. Pushing hard all race with a solid lap time in traffic I moved my way through the field to finish a solid 5th at the flag.
Sunday morning came round and before I knew it I was out for qualifying. Enjoying the track just like Saturday I felt good setting a lap time quick enough for 9th which I was happy with.
Moto 1 on Sunday was the Pro race which started good just outside the top 10 and managing to hang around that area for the whole Moto to finish up in 11th at the flag.
Next out for me was Moto 3 of the youth race just under an hour after the pro race. This race started better for me in the top 3, moving into the lead by lap 3 I settled down again for the race win.
Again with just under 1 hours rest to prepare for Moto 2 of the Pros, I started well again within the top 10 I made a couple of silly mistakes in the first few corners which made me loose a couple of positions.
Getting into a rhythm after this I managed to move into 9th place at the flag.
The final Moto for the whole weekend was the last youth race. Feeling pretty tired after double grouping I knew the race would be hard. Gating in the top 10 I picked off the pack to find myself in a good lead for the win at the flag and the overall.
After a hard but solid weekend taking 10th overall in Pro MX2 and 1st overall in the MXY2; I am feeling happy with everything moving towards the Maxxis British championship next weekend at Foxhills.
