This weekend was Round 3 of the Maxxis British Championship at Milton park, Northampton.
With the track prepared to its normal standards it looked set to be really rutty and technical racing.
Qualifying went quite well for me, putting in a lap time quick enough for 16th place and a fair choice of gate pick before the races.
Moto 1 started with a good start but a fall in the first turn which put me right at the back of the pack. Getting back into my rhythm early on I kept my head down and set my sights on grabbing some points at the flag. Pushing all the way to the end I managed to make a pass on the last corner for a solid 19th.
Moto 2 arrived and hoping to put the first corner mishap behind me I made a good start within the top 10.
Holding this position for the first 3 laps I really felt like things were starting to go right. Unfortunately, over cooking it on one of the slippery jump faces I crashed out of the race and was unable to complete the moto!
Moto 3 took a turn; as the heavens had opened and we were set for a very slippery final race. Making a poorer start than Moto 2; I set on trying again to score some points. Moving into the top 20 I soon found myself up to 16th and pushing on to try and go one better for 15th but on the final lap again out of luck my throttle grip slid off as I took off one of the tabletops. I lost control and crashed, getting back on quickly I rode the final three quarters of the lap with no grip and mud all over my hands to manage 17th at the flag.
My next meeting will be the Red Bull Pro Nationals next week at Weston-Super-Mare!
Thank you again for all the people that came to support me, and thank you for your continued support.
