This weekend we took a short trip to Foxhills Moto Park for the fifth round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championship. Arriving at the track it was looking awesome; with the weather conditions being so hot the organisers were putting a lot of water down.
As always the Pro MX2 were out first for the wet conditions in qualifying. With the session getting quicker as the track started to dry I managed to up my pace and move up to 18th in at the end, which I was happy with regards the depth of talent and names on the field.
Looking forward to the first Moto of the day; the goal was to try and bag two top 20th places over the first two races to allow me to qualify for the joint super final in the final Moto of the day.
The first Moto started good around the area I qualified just inside the top 20. Pushing on having some hard fought battles I found myself moving up a couple of places to 15th at the chequered.
After a really positive first Moto; Moto two started similar again inside the top 20 and again battling hard I started to make some movement up the pack. At the half way mark I suffered a boiled brake which in that turn didn’t help with the big downhill sections. Putting this to the back of my mind I managed to keep plugging on with one brake to go one better for 14th at the chequered.
With a 15th and a 14th, I secured a place in Moto three’s super Final where the MX1 and MX2 top 20 riders get mixed for a big 25 minute +2 lap race to finish the day off. Having 30th to the gate as both classes were combined I was on for a hard start on the outside of the gate with the over powered 450s. Securing the best start I could I again try the best I could being out dragged by the big bikes up the long hills I ended up 28th in the whole race and a solid 13th in MX2.
This gave me 15th overall on the day which is my best overall in the British championship this year which I am over the moon with. A big thank you to all the people who supported me; I wouldn’t be able to do this without you all!
