ClubMX Video and Ironman Preview

Terrific insight provided.

WE MADE IT!!: The trip to Indiana marks the official last round of the Pro Motocross season and I am proud to say – we made it. Think of the possible obstacles that could derail a privateer team like ours but we persevered through almost all of them. Special thanks to all of the people at MX Sports that have helped to guide our team and especially me through the process of racing each and every weekend. This weekend is also a Moto Combine race. I have been once again asked to participate with the racers to give a short presentation. I am flattered to be invited and honoured to participate. Ironman, here we come! For this weekend we partnered with SKDA for a new type of “ghost” graphics. Subtle, cool and different has been the consensus so far. You will like them.

Words: Press Release | Lead Image: ClubMX Mike Bonacci

GARRETT MARCHBANKS: It does not get old for me to say Garrett was once again the top finishing privateer at Budds Creek. Imagine the conversations back at the factory rigs when they try to rationalise a team with one quarter of their budget beating their riders on a weekly basis.
Budds Creek had moto finishes of 6/8 for eighth overall on the day. He continues to amass points for SMX, moving him up one more sport to fourteenth on the season. That is also impressive considering he gave everyone a two-race head start. Garrett is not done yet. He continues to build confidence and we continue to see his growth every weekend. His fitness has been really good this season and that has played a big role in his success. Why is Ironman a special event? Simple – Saturday is his twenty second birthday. Take a moment to swing by and wish him well this weekend.

PHIL NICOLETTI: Phil continued his top ten streak at Budds Creek. He went 10/11 for tenth overall on the day and as you might expect, he was not happy. “Let’s put some cameras on his bike, he won’t mind”. Quietly we have been working with the broadcast crew to try some new things to enhance the show and we are closing in on some cool technology. There is still room for improvement and it has been an interesting process to see how it all works and how we can contribute to the growth of the sport. Phil understands the sport from the business perspective, and he deserves some credit for being the test pilot for these ideas. Let us not forget the leader lights on his forks at Anaheim 2 earlier this year. Moto two at Budds Creek really showed what Phil is made of. For what seemed like the entire moto, he caught but could not pass Freddie Noren and ate roost in the process. Most riders in that position would have given up, but not Phil. He kept trying different lines and techniques to pass but was unsuccessful. When he returned to the pits he said: “I tried everything and I just couldn’t pass him, I tried, I really tried.” We could all sense the frustration and at the same time applaud the determination. They do not build them like Phil anymore, that mould is broken. Phil will line up in the LCQs for SMX, unless he finishes 2-3 on the day at Ironman. “So you’re saying there’s a chance!”

PRESTON KILROY: Exasperation is probably the best adjective for Preston at Budds Creek. He knows he has the speed to do better, we just have to put it all together for him at this last round to end the season on a high note. His 22/19 finishes for twenty-first overall are not at all what he is expecting. The team loaded his race bike up in a pickup truck at Budds Creek and drove it back to the shop. They worked on it all day Sunday and into Monday to give Preston the best chance at success. Having heard the crew was working hard for him, he arrived Monday morning to put in two thirty-minute motos on the totally rebuilt bike. Let’s just say: if you are in a fantasy league, Preston Kilroy is your guy at Ironman.

TREVIN NELSON #390: Trevin is one of the racers on our amateur team that will be making his professional debut at Ironman. He had good success at Loretta Lynn’s earlier this year and earned the opportunity to race at the highest level. He is a North Carolina native and lives and trains full-time at ClubMX. He has been patiently waiting to get this opportunity and is beyond excited. He will race as the fourth bike under our tent this weekend and get the full professional experience. Please take a moment to stop by and meet him.

This weekend is a Moto Combine event and we have two racers participating:
Alex Fedortsov #600 and Ryder Gwynn #625 will both participate in the program this weekend. We have taken the time to build their bikes to look just like the pro bikes so when you walk by our pit area on Friday, the tent will be full.

The video series continues: Please watch, like and share to keep it going. Every little bit helps. This one at Budds Creek is pretty fun and shows a lot of heart!
