Buildbase Honda – Red Bull Showtime Spectacular

The Red Bull Pro National series took Weston-Super-Mare by storm over the weekend and with a sprinkling of sun at last, one of the biggest crowds in British motocross were treated to freestyle motocross, motorcycle stunt shows, BMX displays, electric bikes and balance bikes, MTB Trials, Zorb Balls, the U Drop free-fall zone, soft play areas and bungee trampolines children’s TV favourites Peppa Pig and George, Dora the Explorer and Fireman Sam, motorcycle trials displays, world-class aerial acrobatics from the Red Bull Matadors if that`s not enough, there was time for some great motocross racing.

The MX1 and MX2 racers are mixed for each moto, however the points are allocated in each class, relative to where the particular rider finishes and as the pack headed into the first turn, despite a lowly (for Nico) fifth place in qualification, it was the Buildbase Honda with a clear lead. This was very short-lived as the young Frenchman ran wide and the resulting surge of riders to his inside caused a pile up in which series leader Whatley went down and Aubin was demoted to mid-pack. The fight to the front ensued and Nico was lucky to keep out of further trouble finishing fourth (MX1) at the flag. Graeme Irwin almost managed to pull off an MX2 race win but crashed out on the final lap allowing Shane Carless to snatch his first national Championship win of the season.

On Sunday, Aubin made no mistakes coming round the first turn in moto 2, hugging the inside line only to be nudged in turn two by the crashing pair of Houghton and Potisek. Nico pulled through from last to 7th, then ran out of roll-off`s and pulled down his goggles and was then demoted to

Moto 3 was a three-way battle royale between Aubin, Brad Anderson and Milko Potisek. Aubin lead until the halfway mark when Ando` crept through and unceremoniously pushed the Buildbase Honda and rider over a berm to allow Potisek to make an attack. Nico gathered himself together and began to come back at Anderson who just managed to take the flag.
