Buildbase Honda Race Report

The second round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals took place at Fat Cat Moto Park, Doncaster at the weekend.  Following the previous weeks of drought, the heavens opened for the entire event, turning the sandy track into a swamp.

In conditions which would stop most other races, qualifying was still fast and furious with Martin Barr finishing on pole with our own French ace Nicolas Aubin taking fourth down to the line.

(MX1) – De Reuver holeshot Moto 1 with Nico’ hot on his heels, however, the second place was soon relinquished to the battling trio of Barr, Sword and Lenoir who demoted Aubin to fifth place on the first lap.  Barr and Sword dropped Lenoir who was then passed back by Nico’, who was now fighting with Coppins.  At the flag De Reuver took the win comfortably from Barr, Sword, Aubin and Coppins.

After holding fourth in the MX2 class, Jordan Booker crashed and dropped back into eighth spot, working hard for an eventual sixth place (MX2) at the flag.

The torrential rain continued for the start of Moto 2 with Barr leading and in control.  By the third corner Aubin was following De Reuver in third place but soon lost position to Sword, Lenoir and Irwin.  At around the half way mark, Alex Snow passed the French racer who upped his pace and soon passed him back, finding the energy to also pass Irwin.  Barr won, De Reuver rode to a lonely second, Sword third and Aubin fourth.

Booker made no mistake in Moto 2 and took a well-deserved fourth place and fourth overall (MX2) on the day.

Nicolas Aubin – “This weekend was tough.  The conditions were extreme and I am sure on most tracks we would not have been able to race at all.  My qualifying session was OK, I made some mistakes on my fast lap but my position on the line was not compromised too much.  I am always disappointed to be passed in any race but this is the second round of a championship and I am still pleased to be consistent”.

Jordan Booker – “A mistake in Moto 1 cost me fourth place in MX2 and I was determined not to repeat the same in the second race.  Obviously I am pleased to have finished both Moto’s but I know I could have done better.  Following the disaster at the first Red Bull Pro National Championship round at Landrake, this fourth place overall on the day is a little sweeter and I am looking forward to the next round”.
