A lot happened at the opening round of the Dutch Masters but, lost in all of that, was the fact that Mikkel Haarup picked up an injury. The promising Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing rider sustained a broken collarbone in the second moto.
“Made quite a crash on Sunday which ended up in a broken collarbone,” Haarup wrote on his social media account. “Don’t know when I’ll be ready again but it won’t be long. See you soon! Thanks to everybody for sticking behind me and thanks for all the kind messages!” Although it was not confirmed in the statement, it is extremely likely that he will skip the opening round of the EMX250 series in Spain next weekend. The official word on that is expected in the coming days.
Mikkel Haarup won more motos than anyone else in the EMX125 series last year and has already shown some potential aboard the FC 250. Haarup finished eighth in the first moto on Sunday, for instance, and ran near the front at the Hawkstone International and opening round of the Internazionali D’Italia.
