British Youth Nationals and Honda equally committed

MX Vice received these two press releases today from the Gareth Hockey’s RHL Activities regarding the ACU British Youth Nationals. Good to see that Honda are staying involved for the the foreseeable future and RHL are thinking about the commitment of some riders to to the series. As good as it is to have more riders racing a national series it’s not always that simple, especially for the parents who are having to put their hand into ever deeper pockets while their arms feel like they’re getting shorter. Anyway, here’s what the press releases in all their glory…

Honda continue ACU British Youth Nationals support

The Honda Xtreme Academy, now in it’s third season, will continue to be an integral part of the ACU British Youth Nationals Series in 2012.

The Xtreme Academy is a European wide initiative, designed by Honda to develop young talent and the stars of tomorrow, giving young riders a competitive series to develop their career on four-stroke machinery before taking the step up to the bigger capacity classes of MX2 and MX1.

The Academy has been a great success in recent years, with last year’s UK Xtreme Academy won by Brad Todd, who also finished runner-up in the BYMX series. This year sees a new flock of talent, keen for success aboard the CRF150R, including Josh Gilbert, who took the victory in round one of the ACU British Youth Nationals at Milton MX Park.

“I’m pleased that the Honda Xtreme Academy will remain a big part of the ACU British Youth Nationals Series in 2012, because the aim of the academy – to develop young riders ready for senior competition – is one of our own goals for the series as a whole,” declared Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities, the promoters of the British Youth Nationals Series.

“Not only will the Xtreme Academy members racing in the British Youth Nationals Series benefit from the opportunity to train alongside former Grand Prix winners, they’ll also be eligible for a significant prize fund provided by Honda, which will go some way to offsetting the cost of racing.”

“And that’s not all. In conjunction with the ACU, the Honda Xtreme Academy will be extended to include three rounds that will run alongside the ACU Maxxis British Championship. The aim is to give registered riders even more valuable experience of racing on British Championship circuits, at the same events as the best riders in the UK.”

In addition to a separate prize fund at each round, Honda Xtreme Academy riders competing in the ACU British Youth Nationals Series will also be eligible for prizes donated by Academy sponsors.

Furthermore, riders who register with the Honda Xtreme Academy will also receive a discount on registration for the ACU British Youth Nationals Series.

“Honda have always been a big supporter of youth racing in the United Kingdom and we want to do our bit to make sure that riders can take maximum advantage of this support when they race in the ACU British Youth Nationals Series. That’s why we’re offering a reduced registration fee for any rider who signs up with the Academy in 2012,” concluded Hockey.

Regional championships for ACU British Youth Nationals

RHL Activities Limited are to offer riders who want to try the 2012 ACU British Youth Nationals Series before committing to a full season the chance to contest events in their region only.

The British Youth Nationals Series, with three of the remaining five rounds to be run in the “North” and two in the “South”, is already split geographically and is ideally suited to the introduction of two regional sub-championships.

“We want to give riders the opportunity to come and experience the ACU British Youth Nationals Series without having to sign up to do every event,” explains Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities. “We want to attract the best riders to the British Youth Nationals Series, the premier championship in the UK, which is why we’ve decided to run with this initiative.”

“Riders will be able to sign up to their regional rounds, without having to pay the registration fee for the whole series, where they’ll get a good introduction to the series. Hopefully what they see will convince them to return next season to contest all the rounds.”

“Riders in the regional championships as we’ll call them won’t be eligible to score points in the main championship classes, but we’ll be sorting out a few prizes for the regional winners to make it worth their while.”

The British Youth Nationals will be contested over six rounds (with the exception of the Auto class), at some of the best motocross tracks the country has to offer. The series will continue to be the premier youth championship in the United Kingdom, and the only one run under the auspices of the ACU, with the winner in each class crowned as the British Champion at the end of the season.
