According to http://www.motoonline.com.au Carlton Dry Honda Thor Racing’s Ben Townley has been ruled out of this weekend’s second round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship, at Coonabarabran in New South Wales.
After dominating the opening round of the season in Queensland a fortnight ago, Townley entered this weekend’s second round at the Goanna Tracks complex as the pre-race favourite.
Disaster struck Townley however when a fall early in the practice session this morning forced him out of the session and the round with a suspected hip injury, with early reports indicating that it’s a dislocation.
Medical Staff attended to Townley since the incident, preparing the former world champion to be airlifted out of the country-based venue for further analysis regarding the injury.
The extent of his injuries are unconfirmed at this point. Coonabarabran was set to be Townley’s last appearance before heading off to the U.S. to race for Chad Reed’s TwoTwo Motorsports team.
All out MX Vice wish Ben a speedy recovery! The last time we got to see Ben race in the UK was at Lyng in 2011 as part of his rehab then.
