BANKS-BROWNE SWAPS RED PLATE FOR L-PLATES

Defending ACU British Motocross MX2 champion, Elliott Banks-Browne, has taken the first steps into gaining his full motorcycle road licence by completing his CBT on a KTM 125 Duke.

The 23-year old, riding for the HM Plant KTM UK Team, is defending his no.1 plate from the front of the field while also contending World Motocross Grand Prix championship, also in MX2.

‘EBB’ usually rides the all-conquering 250 SX-F four-stroke motocross machine from the Austrian manufacturer but has had his eyes on getting a 125 Duke since it was released in 2011 to make his slow and boring commute through Derby for training quicker and a lot more fun.

Though not a fan of any classroom training, Elliott paid full attention to the instructors at Shires Motorcycle Training in Derby to complete all the necessary modules of the one day Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) on his 125 Duke but will need to run ‘L’ plates until he takes his full test later in the year.

On receiving his CBT certificate, Elliott said: “I can’t understand why more people don’t get on two wheels. It takes me ages to get across town in the car to go to the gym or where I practice on the dirt bikes and now, with the 125 Duke, it will be a lot quicker and I’ll have a smile on my face at the end of the journey.

“The bike is a lot more fun than I was expecting; not just because it’s a 125. Obviously I feel more at home on the dirt than on the road, but I got through the day without sticking my leg out into turns. I’m keen to ditch the L Plates and get my full licence, so once the season ends I’ll be doing that if I haven’t wheelied them off first.”

The KTM Duke is the first bike in the 125 class to have ABS fitted as standard, it’s incredibly easy to handle, lightweight, torquey, comfortable and perfectly suited to everyday use alone or two-up.

KTM UK is offering both free insurance and 0% interest finance with a £99 deposit as options when buying its incredibly popular 125 Duke, which costs £3,995. See all the offers here
