Buildbase Honda’s defending champion Nico Aubin goes into round three of the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Culham Park in just 18 days time in a positive frame of mind.
The 25-year-old from Rots in Northern France has run 3-4 at the opening two rounds of the 2013 season and currently sits third in the standings, six points behind compatriot Milko Potisek and a further 15 off series leader Kristian Whatley.
However, the GP winner is confident he can close in on the leading pair and after securing the 2012 MX1 title at the Oxfordshire track certainly knows his way around the circuit that winds up, down and across a steep banking on the banks of the Thames – even if it’s not one of his favourite venues.
“I’m not worried about the points gap at this stage,” says Nico. “I just need to stay consistent. And the extra race means an extra chance to score good points. There is still all to play for.
“I always look forward to the Red Bull Pro Nationals because they are so professional and the racing is very competitive. Culham is maybe not my most favourite track but I have a good feeling for it after winning the championship there last year.”
Tickets for round three on June 29-30 – priced at just £13 for adults, £3 for children and £30 for a family of four when booked online – are on sale here…
