Ashley Wilde – Maxxis round #4

Qualifying: The track was in good condition and had been ripped really nice with some nice lines starting to develop. I got going pretty well and found a rhythm straight away. The warm weather was immense thou and shocked me how hot it was riding in it. I didn’t get a lap in straight away as a few people got in my way. I managed to key a lap in on lap 3 that was good enough for 18th pick.

Race 1: The ruts in the track had devolved really quickly and were already quite long and deep. I didn’t get off to the best of starts but I was able to make up a lot of positions on the first few corners. I was riding ok and managed to keep moving forward the whole race and finished 15th at the end.

Race 2: Going into race 2 it was really warm and the track had started to get rough and horrible. Luckily I got off to a better start and was well inside the top 20 at the end of lap one. After battling the first few laps I found myself in a battle for the top 15 with a nice gap behind me. I didn’t do anything silly and rode a smart race bringing it home in 14th meaning I would qualify for the final mx2 vs. mx1 shoot out.

Shoot out: The track was baked and starting to get really dry and dusty. Having 32 gate pick didn’t help me with the start and I got away inside the top 30. The first few laps were very dusty and you had to be careful as you couldn’t see a great deal. I got into a good rhythm and moved forward to 21st and was challenging for points. Unfortunately with 3 laps to go my radiator cap came off resulting in me pulling off and having a DNF

Overall: 13th overall on the day was great and I was happy with that on a track I don’t really like. It was a shame about the last race but that is racing and it didn’t cost me too many points. We are moving forward in the championship so all in all it was a good weekend.
