Terry King says….

To all AMCA members and supporters.

I would like to inform you all of my decision to resign from the AMCA board of directors with immediate effect.

After nearly 40 years with the AMCA, including around 38 as an official of one sort or another I felt it was right for me to hang up my Motocross boots and now my officials pen.

I have had a great time in the sport, but due to my other commitments over the last few years I am only able to attend all the formal meetings, but have not had enough time to attend many race meetings. Therefore I feel its best that the AMCA elects a new director and a new chairman at the March 2013 AGM.

My departure is not hurried, but may be a surprise to some, I also recognise that it would be best for me to stop all involvement immediately to remove my “shadow” from the new person, a process I also followed when stepping down a couple of years ago from the Oakham club, after over 30 years.

The AMCA is in good shape, with a new generation of staff well embedded to deal with the pressures of the current economic climate and I wish them and all of you the best for the future.

Terry King

I am sure you will all join the AMCA Directors and the AMCA members of staff in thanking Terry for his long and dedicated services to the association over the past 40 years and we wish him well in the future.

Weymouth Beach Race hits 28th Year

The prestigious AMCA Weymouth Beach Race ran by the Purbeck Club each year has confirmed the 2013 date being the 20th October 2013! The event is entering its 28th year and always raises thousands of pounds for charity.

In its 27 year history so far, the event has raised over £40,000 for charity. The presentation of funds from the 2012 Weymouth event will be on the 26th January with the Lions Charity President, Trevor Stratton.

Money is gathered from entry fees as well as members of the public who have always attended the event free of charge! Thanks must go to all officials, helpers and sponsors, all of whom donate their time to run the event to ensure it remains cost effective for the riders, and still raising much needed income for the Lions Charity.

This prestigious event should not be confused with any other event on this site as this event remains as it always has done as the AMCA Purbeck Club event, and will continually be raising money for charity as well as offering spectators to view the magnificent event free of charge!
