It is almost hard to believe that Jason Anderson really struggled during his first season as a professional. Bobby Hewitt and the Rockstar Energy Racing team stuck by him through a rough patch, which actually included a brief period where he was benched, and have reaped the benefits in recent years. Bearing all of that in mind, it is hardly surprising that Anderson and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing have signed a four-year extension.
“I am beyond excited to extend my contract with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team,” Anderson stated in a press release from the Austrian manufacturer. “They are like family and being with the brand for such a long time makes me feel very fortunate. I also look forward to continuing my career with Bobby Hewitt, since he has been such a huge support since the beginning.“
Bobby Hewitt, the team manager at Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing, echoed those thoughts. “Jason and I have been together for eight years now,” Hewitt said. “He has always believed in me and I have always believed in him. Having this long term contract shows that Husqvarna and everyone who supports our program believes in Jason. It is really a great partnership between us and I am grateful that we will be able to complete his entire career together. Now the focus can be on winning a championship for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna.“
Jason Anderson finished fourth in the Monster Energy Supercross series last year, twenty points down on the rider in third, but is expected to improve on that ranking this season. Racing the Rockstar Edition FC 450 on American soil for the first time, Anderson finished second at the opening round this past weekend.
