Julius Mikula has finished the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship in ninth place in the MX2 standings. The 20-year-old Czech rider achieved the best World Championship result for Czech motocross in the modern era and finished as the highest-placed privateer in the MXGP series. For Osička MX Team, the 2026 season marked its first full World Championship campaign, with the South Moravian team ending the year as the best private team in the series.
The 2026 World Championship featured 19 rounds across four continents, making it one of the most demanding seasons in recent motocross history. Mikula contested almost the entire championship, missing only the Grands Prix of Latvia and Australia due to injury. From the opening round through to the final races of the season, he gained valuable experience on a wide variety of tracks and in constantly changing conditions.
During the season, Mikula raced on hard-packed tracks, in mud and in deep sand. Hot temperatures alternated with cold and wet race weekends, while the extensive travel between continents added another layer of difficulty. Despite the demanding schedule, he maintained a high level of performance throughout the year and remained consistently inside the MX2 top ten.
Mikula and Osička MX Team entered the World Championship together for the second time. Their first campaign came in 2024, when Mikula completed a partial MX2 season with the team and finished 22nd in the final standings. Two years later, they took a major step forward – completing a full World Championship campaign and securing ninth place in the final MX2 classification.
One of the highlights of the season came at the MXGP of Trentino, where Mikula recorded the best result of his World Championship career to date. At Pietramurata, Italy, he finished fourth, proving that he could run at the front of the highly competitive MX2 field.
Mikula also claimed two Fox Holeshot Awards during the season. His first came in Águeda, Portugal, where he became the first Czech rider of the modern era to take a holeshot in a World Championship race. He added a second holeshot in front of his home crowd at Loket. Strong starts, outright speed and the ability to maintain the pace at the front of the field were among the key areas of his progress throughout the season.
The result is a ninth-place finish in the final MX2 World Championship standings – a landmark achievement for Czech motocross and further evidence of the progress made by Mikula and Osička MX Team throughout the year.

Julius proved he could perform on different types of tracks while gaining the confidence and experience that are essential at this level,” says Osička MX Team owner Martin Osička.
For Osička MX Team, the result is even more significant in a landmark anniversary season. The team is celebrating 20 years since its foundation in 2026. Over the past two decades, Osička MX Team has gone through many stages of development, and this year it took on one of the biggest challenges in its history – completing a full FIM Motocross World Championship campaign.
“When we decided to enter the full World Championship this season, we knew it would require an enormous amount of work. Nineteen rounds across four continents involve far more than racing itself – logistics, equipment preparation, travelling and keeping the entire team operating at a high level throughout a demanding schedule. That makes this result even more special for us,” adds Martin Osička.
Throughout the season, Julius Mikula proved capable of competing with some of the world’s leading riders, while Osička MX Team demonstrated that a Czech team can complete a full World Championship campaign, finish as the best private team in the series and fight for strong results at the highest level of motocross.
The 2026 season therefore ends on a historic note for Czech motocross. Julius Mikula has secured ninth place in the MX2 World Championship with Osička MX Team – in the team’s 20th anniversary year, two decades after its foundation.
