A 3-3 scorecard earned Liam Everts his fourth consecutive Grand Prix podium for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing at the penultimate round of the season.
Liam Everts continued his impressive late-season form at the MXGP of China, taking third overall with a pair of third-place finishes to secure a fourth consecutive Grand Prix podium for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing.
The penultimate round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship took place at the Shanghai International Off-Road Circuit in the city’s Fengxian District, with the 1,680-metre hard-pack circuit hosting the second stop of the championship’s final flyaway run.
After fifth in Saturday’s qualifying race, Everts immediately showed stronger pace on Sunday by topping the morning warm-up before carrying that speed into the opening MX2 moto.
Race one developed into a close fight between the leading three riders. Everts remained firmly in contention throughout and crossed the line third, just 0.407 seconds behind Simon Längenfelder in second and only 1.982 seconds from race winner Camden McLellan.
Everts was again in the leading group from the opening lap of race two, running third before moving past Längenfelder for second on lap seven. As he moved into second, the Belgian set the fastest lap of the race and closed to within 2.277 seconds of leader Guillem Farres.
He maintained second deep into the moto before a small mistake in a left-hander on lap 15 allowed McLellan through. Everts regrouped quickly and remained close to the Triumph rider through the closing laps, eventually taking the chequered flag third – just 0.941 seconds behind McLellan and 1.979 seconds from Farres at the front.
The 3-3 scorecard gave Everts 40 Grand Prix points and third overall, extending a run of podium finishes that began with second in Sweden and continued with second in the Netherlands and third in Türkiye.
With one round remaining, Everts holds fifth in the MX2 World Championship on 742 points, just 26 behind Längenfelder in fourth.
The result continues an impressive closing run to Everts’ 2026 campaign, with four consecutive overall podiums underlining the consistent front-running pace he has established during the final stages of the season.
Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing now heads to Darwin for the final round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship, the MXGP of Australia, on September 20.
#26 – Liam Everts: “It was a good weekend overall. I felt strong on Sunday and the pace was definitely there in both motos. Race one was really close at the front, and in the second moto I managed to move into second and felt like I was riding well. I made a small mistake towards the end which cost me the position, but 3-3 for third overall and a fourth podium in a row is still really positive. I’m happy with the consistency we’re showing at the moment and with the way I’m riding. Now we have one more round in Australia, so I want to carry this momentum into the final weekend.”
