Broken wrist bone brings Kevin Horgmo’s season to an early end

Kevin Horgmo will not compete again this season. The Norwegian crashed during free practice for the MXGP of China and fractured the scaphoid bone in his left wrist. As a result, his season comes to a particularly unfortunate and premature end.

Horgmo started his weekend in China strongly. During free practice, he set the fourth-fastest time and said he felt very comfortable on the track. However, things went wrong shortly afterwards.

On landing, Horgmo ended up at the edge of the track. His handlebars then caught on an advertising board, causing him to crash. Initially, the injury did not appear to be serious, but the pain in his left wrist gradually became worse.

The Norwegian therefore decided to undergo a medical examination. A CT scan eventually confirmed the unfortunate diagnosis: a fracture of the scaphoid bone in his left wrist. As a result of the injury, Horgmo’s season is immediately over.

Kevin Horgmo: “Unfortunately, my season here in China came to an end during free practice with a broken scaphoid. After setting the fourth-fastest time, I landed at the edge of the track and my handlebars caught on an advertising board, causing me to crash.”

“At first, it didn’t feel too serious, but the pain kept getting worse, so I decided to get it checked out. A CT scan confirmed that I had fractured the scaphoid in my left wrist, which brought my season to an end.”

For Horgmo, it is a particularly disappointing way to end a long campaign, especially as he was feeling good on the track in China.

“It’s disappointing to have to end my season here after such a long journey, especially because I was feeling really good on the track. But that’s motocross… We’ll come back stronger!”
