Sleny Goyer Claims Race Win and Second Overall in Portugal

MJC Yamaha Official EMX125 Team’s Sleny Goyer has posted his fourth overall podium result in the 2026 EMX125 Championship by placing a strong second in Agueda, Portugal. The talented youngster secured second overall with victory in Race One before charging to fourth in Race Two. Rounding out a solid day for Yamaha-mounted riders was Edoardo Riganti in eighth, with Goyer’s teammate, Levi Townley, claiming 11th.

For the seventh round of the EMX125 campaign, the series headed to Portugal and the popular hardpack circuit of Agueda. With his title aspirations still very much alive, Goyer kicked off the weekend with the second-fastest time in qualifying to set the tone for another successful round of racing.

As the gate dropped for Race One, Goyer made a superb start and emerged from the first turn in the lead. The Frenchman then dropped to second, settling in behind championship leader Moritz Ernecker, before retaking the lead a few laps later. From there, he controlled the race from the front to pick up his second race win of the season.

In Race Two, the track conditions were slippery after overnight watering had taken place. Through the early laps, Goyer rode with caution to minimise mistakes. As the circuit continued to dry out, the GYTR-kitted YZ125 rider picked up his pace, moving from 10th on lap three to a strong fourth at the finish. Goyer’s impressive ride secured second overall for his fourth overall podium result of the season, and with only three rounds remaining, he sits third in the standings, 48 points behind the series leader.

Following his second place finish in Latvia at the previous round, Townley was focused on replicating his result. Frustratingly, he didn’t quite get the start he needed in Race One and placed 13th. Race Two began much more positively with the New Zealander running ninth. However, disaster struck a few laps into the race when he was involved in a multi-rider incident. Remounting in 18th, Townley worked his way up to 10th at the finish in what was a strong ride to end the weekend. Placing 11th on the day sees Townley remain 14th in the championship standings.

JK Racing Yamaha’s Drew Stock picked up a point in Race Two for his 20th-place finish to claim 24th overall.

The EMX250 series continued in Portugal for its eighth round. In Race One, VHR Yamaha Official EMX250 Team’s Jarne Bervoets placed 24th before a technical issue while running 18th in Race Two ruled him out of proceedings. JK Racing Yamaha’s Jekabs Kubulins placed 17th with Frenchman Tom Brunet finishing one spot higher in 16th.

EMX125 continues in the UK across the weekend of July 18-19 with round eight taking place at Foxhill while the EMX250 series will have a short summer break before resuming with round nine in Lommel, Belgium, on August 1-2.
