Mattia Guadagnini has provided an update on his physical condition after recently undergoing surgery. The Italian rider sustained the injury during a training session in the week following the MXGP of Trentino.
In the crash, Guadagnini broke his collarbone in an unusual way. The fracture occurred at a location where a plate had already been fitted in the past. Surgery was necessary to repair the damage.
During the procedure, doctors also addressed several old fractures that had caused him significant problems over the past two years. According to Guadagnini, these injuries had left him with only around fifty percent of his normal strength in one shoulder.
“Hello everyone. I haven’t shared much recently, but I would like to give you an update following my surgery. I crashed during a training session in the week after the Grand Prix of Trentino. As a result, I broke my collarbone in a strange way, at a spot where I already had a plate fitted.
Surgery was necessary, and at the same time we also addressed some old fractures that have caused me many problems over the last two years. Because of that, I only had about fifty percent of the strength in that shoulder compared to my other shoulder.
The recovery process will be quite long, but I’m going to use this period to finally come back at one hundred percent, both physically and mentally. Thanks to the small but amazing group of people who continue to support me. I hope to bring you some good news again soon.”
The Italian also thanked his current teams, Van Venrooy KTM Racing and Ghidinelli Racing Team, for their support during his recovery period.
At this stage, it is still unknown when Guadagnini will make his return to the starting gate.
