Herlings, Valk, Wedage and Nierychlo dominate in Harfsen

On Sunday, riders competed for points in the CAD2M Dutch Masters of Motocross championship in Harfsen. Jeffrey Herlings, Cas Valk, Damian Wedage, and Luca Nierychlo claimed the victories and are also the championship leaders following this round.

Everything had been done to ensure a successful second round of the competition. Due to the dry days leading up to the event, the track was harder than usual. Everything ran smoothly until heavy rain began falling during the second moto of the 85cc class, forcing the organizers to cancel the remainder of the program.

In the first moto of the 500 class, Jeffrey Herlings battled intensely with Romain Febvre. The Frenchman led until the closing stages, but when he struggled while lapping a backmarker, Herlings seized the opportunity and took the win ahead of Febvre and Maxime Renaux.

In the 250 class, Janis Martins Reisulis looked set for victory for a long time, but with just three corners to go, Cas Valk managed to pass him and won the moto in his debut on the CAD2M Chambers Racing KTM, ahead of Reisulis. Karlis Alberts Reisulis fought back from far behind to secure third place.

The 125cc class was won by Damian Wedage. In the first half of the race, Timo Heuver was strong and built up a lead. However, Wedage gradually closed the gap and took over the lead. Wedage won the moto ahead of Heuver and Kay Zijlstra.

The 85cc class was the only category able to complete two motos due to the rain. Championship leader Luca Nierychlo won both motos and extended his lead in the standings. Harry Dale finished second in both races, ahead of Dutch rider Kenzo Jaspers.

The third round of the championship is just around the corner. On Sunday, May 17, the battle for the prestigious titles continues at the Markelo circuit.
