Mixed Weekend for Van Venrooy KTM Racing in Trentino

The Van Venrooy KTM Racing Team experienced a weekend of highs and lows during the MXGP of Trentino in Arco di Trento, showing strong moments but also facing setbacks.

In the MXGP class, Mattia Guadagnini started the weekend strongly with a seventh-place finish in Saturday’s qualifying race, laying a solid foundation for race day.

However, he was unable to convert this into a top result on Sunday. In the opening moto, things went wrong in the first corner when he crashed. His bike stalled and proved difficult to restart, forcing him to rejoin the race from last position. With an impressive comeback ride, he fought his way back to 18th place.

In the second moto, he again had a poor start. Although he managed to climb up to 12th place, he struggled to find his rhythm and made several mistakes, eventually dropping back to finish 16th.

Mattia Guadagnini:
“A very positive Saturday. I was really happy with my riding and finishing seventh in the qualifying race gave me a good starting position for Sunday. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the most of it. In the first moto, I made a mistake at the start and crashed in the first corner. My bike stalled, and I had to restart from last. I rode well afterward and passed many riders, finishing 18th. In the second moto, I was hoping for a better start because with that speed I could have stayed inside the top ten. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a good start again and couldn’t find my rhythm. I made many mistakes and finished 16th. It wasn’t the Sunday I wanted. Now I’ll use this month to train and come back stronger at the next race.”

In the MX2 class, Noel Zanocz showed a consistent weekend. After setting the 18th fastest time in time practice and finishing 13th in the qualifying race, he got off to a good start in the first moto and completed the opening lap in ninth place, eventually finishing 14th. In the second moto, Zanocz had a weaker start, coming through around 25th place, but fought back strongly to finish 16th.

In the EMX250 class, Aron Katona once again demonstrated his speed by setting the fastest time in his practice group. However, in the first moto he started around 26th place and had to fight his way forward, eventually finishing 16th.

In the second moto, Katona again suffered from a poor start, coming through the first lap in last position (40th). With a strong charge through the field, he managed to recover to 27th place, but a strong overall result was no longer possible.

The world championship now enters a four-week break and will resume on May 23–24 at the MXGP of France in Lacapelle-Marival.
