Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 Team’s Karlis Reisulis has enjoyed a strong showing at the MXGP of Switzerland to post a season-best finish of sixth overall. Rounding out a positive weekend, in what was a Grand Prix heavily affected by rain and cold weather, Janis Reisulis secured seventh to maintain his impressive start to the season.
Following on from their solid results in the sand of Spain last weekend, the Reisulis brothers were focused on demonstrating their hardpack riding skills in Switzerland. With K. Reisulis having led plenty of laps at the Frauenfeld circuit in 2024, and J. Reisulis making a smooth transition to his new class, the stage was set for another fruitful weekend of racing.
In Race One, K. Reisulis executed a perfect start and emerged from the first turn in second. From there, the Latvian enjoyed his time at the front of the field as he gave chase to early race leader Mathis Valin. By mid-race, K. Reisulis had slipped to fifth, and in the closing stages he was pushed back to sixth.
The second MX2 race started in a similar way for K. Reisulis. Slotting into third early on allowed him to once again learn the pace of the leaders and he began to break away from the rest of the chasing pack. As the race neared its conclusion, he dropped back to sixth and crossed the finish line with a comfortable gap over seventh. Placing sixth for the second time on the day secured sixth overall in what was an impressive showing in difficult conditions. K. Reisulis now lies ninth in the MX2 World Championship standings.
Defending EMX250 Champion J. Reisulis wasn’t quite able to match his fast-starting brother in either race in Switzerland. Suffering from a sickness bug all weekend also made the Grand Prix even more challenging for the recently turned 18-year-old, who posted a consistent 7-9 result for seventh overall. Following three rounds, J. Reisulis lies sixth in the standings – an impressive start for the MX2 rookie.
Two-time and defending WMX World Champion Lotte van Drunen was also in action in Switzerland and used the Grand Prix as part of her training plan for the upcoming WMX season. The De Baets Yamaha Supported MX Team rider just missed out on scoring points, although the experience of completing longer races proved valuable for the Dutch sensation.
With another positive Grand Prix complete, the team will now enjoy a weekend off before travelling to the deep sand track of Riola Sardo in Sardegna for round four on April 11-12.

“Overall, it was a good weekend for me. The main positive is the consistency as I finished inside the top six in both motos and put together solid results across the two races. My starts were good and the riding felt consistent throughout, which is something I’ve been working on. Of course, there are still areas to improve, but overall, I’m happy with what we’ve achieved this weekend.”

“It was quite a difficult weekend for me. I didn’t have the best feeling on the track and struggled to really find my rhythm, which made it a tough experience overall. The second moto was especially challenging, as I was fighting some sickness all the way and I ran out of energy and focus towards the end. There’s definitely work to do, but we’ll take the lessons from this one and come back stronger in Sardinia in two weeks.”
