Simon Laengenfelder has secured the Italian title in the MX2 class. During the second round in Mantova today, Laengenfelder won both motos to clinch the championship.
In the second moto, Valerio Lata led for a long time, but in the closing stages Laengenfelder managed to pass him to take the win. Lata held on to second place until the finish, narrowly keeping Cas Valk behind him. Ferruccio Zanchi and Jekabs Kubulins completed the top five.
Scott Smulders finished seventh in the second moto, while Ivano van Erp crossed the line in fifteenth.
Jens Walvoort was having a strong race until, while running in the top three, he encountered mechanical problems and was forced to retire. Douwe van Mechgelen also failed to finish.
Cas Valk finished second overall on the day and ended the Italian Championship third in the final standings. Scott Smulders placed fourth today but finished second in the overall championship standings.
