Max Anstie Reflects on a Championship Season and Looks Ahead to 2026

For Max Anstie, the 32-year-old amiable Englishman racing for Star Racing Yamaha, 2025 will always stand out as a defining year. By claiming his second World Supercross (WSX) SX2 World Title, Anstie once again proved his class on the global stage and he did it in a season that demanded adaptability, resilience and consistency.

Looking back, Anstie speaks with satisfaction about how the WSX campaign unfolded.
“The season went great in WSX,” he says. “Racing on five different continents was really cool, and every place had such a different vibe. The tracks were all pretty unique as well, so to get the job done across such variety was awesome.”

He is also quick to acknowledge the effort behind the scenes. “I’m really pleased that Star Yamaha and Team GSM were able to collaborate and make it work so I could race the entire series. That made a huge difference.”

The year, however, was not without its challenges. Anstie’s AMA Supercross season began in spectacular fashion with a victory in Tampa, immediately setting the tone for what could have been a major title push. But momentum came to a sudden halt after a brutal crash in Birmingham, which resulted in a serious injury.

“Of course it was tough,” Anstie admits. “It sucks, but that’s also the nature of what we do. Crashes and injuries are part of the sport.” The focus quickly shifted to recovery. “We did everything possible to get back to 100 percent, and the goal was to be ready for WSX. Thankfully, that worked out.”

Now, with a new season on the horizon, Anstie’s ambitions remain crystal clear.
“For 2026, I expect to fight for wins and championships. That’s the goal and that’s the plan.”

Away from the track, Anstie’s life has taken on a new rhythm. More and more often, fans spot him in the paddock with his young son Finn, who is becoming increasingly aware of the world around him. “It’s amazing to be able to take the family to the races,” Max says with a smile. “Finn absolutely loves it. He enjoys being there, seeing the bikes, the people, everything.”

Having followed in his own father’s footsteps to become a professional racer, the question naturally arises: would he encourage Finn to do the same? Anstie’s answer is refreshingly relaxed. “I’m not really bothered whether he wants to race or not,” he explains. “Of course, we know the risks, and there’s also how Mily (Anstie) feels about it. But for me, it’s just great that he can come along, experience the races, and enjoy it all. That’s what matters most.”

With another world title secured, renewed motivation for 2026, and his family by his side, Max Anstie enters the next chapter of his career confident, focused, and enjoying the journey as much as the results.
