Cyril Genot managed to win the second round of the Sand Race World Championship in Portugal, securing the overall victory. At the finish, Genot held a lead of only two seconds over Hakon Fredriksen, with Jeremy Hauquier taking third place. Milko Potisek and Lars van Berkel finished fourth and fifth, ahead of the Belgians Julien Lieber and Tias Callens.
Damien Knuiman finished in a respectable eighth place, though there could have been more. During the refueling stop, his fuel cap was not closed properly after filling up when he rode off. Fortunately, it stayed on for the rest of the race, but it did affect him.
Henk Pater also delivered a strong performance by finishing thirteenth!
Todd Kellett did not make it to the finish.
