The second moto of the MXGP in Darwin has been cancelled. After the MX2 race was already red-flagged earlier in the day, officials decided not to send riders back onto the track. Despite the fact that conditions had dried up, there was still too much standing water on the circuit. It proved to be a major disappointment for the organizers, who had staged a fantastic event but ultimately had no control over the weather.
Based on the results of the opening moto, the Grand Prix victory was awarded to Lucas Coenen, who celebrated his fifth win of the season and once again heard the Belgian national anthem. Joining him on the podium were Jeffrey Herlings in second and Tim Gajser in third.
