Jens Walvoort comes close to the top ten at MXGP of Turkey

BTS Racing’s Jens Walvoort came close to breaking into the top ten during the 18th round of the MXGP World Championship in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. Walvoort finished 12th in both motos, which earned him 11th overall on the day.

The Afyonkarahisar circuit is known for its fast, hard-packed surface with tricky ruts. Walvoort qualified in 13th place in both time practice and the qualifying race but was determined to push further in the main motos.

In the opening moto, Walvoort made a strong start and held a spot inside the top ten until lap seven. In the heat of battle, he had to surrender a few positions and eventually crossed the line in 12th.

The second moto began with a setback when Walvoort went down in the first corner after the start. Forced to begin from the back of the pack, he launched a spirited comeback, steadily gaining ground to once again finish 12th.

These consistent results placed him 11th overall for the Grand Prix. In the current championship standings, Walvoort now sits 20th. Next weekend, he will line up for the Grand Prix of China.
