MXGP EMBRACES SPANISH HERITAGE IN LUGO WITH ICONIC CATHEDRAL VISIT

The heart of Galicia pulsed with a unique blend of history and horsepower today, as the stars of the FIM Motocross World Championship  and despite the rain, gathered in the historic city of Lugo for the MXGP of Spain’s media event.

In an extraordinary setting that united sport with centuries of cultural legacy, riders stood for the official event photo inside the cloister of the Cathedral of Lugo, a venue unlike any other in the series. Surrounded by UNESCO World Heritage landmarks, including the Cathedral, the Roman wall, and the legendary Camino de Santiago, this gathering marked a symbolic start to an exciting Grand Prix.

The visit not only highlighted the deep-rooted history of Lugo, but also underlined the growing synergy between world-class motocross and the exceptional regions that host it.

   

Among those present were home favourites Rubén Fernández from Honda HRC, Monster Energy Triumph Racing’s Guillem Farrés, and JM Honda Racing’s David Braceras, proudly representing Spain at their home Grand Prix. They were joined by some of the sport’s biggest international stars, including Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP’s Maxime Renaux and Calvin Vlaanderen, Pauls Jonass from Kawasaki Racing Team and Monster Energy Triumph Racing’s Camden Mc Lellan’s.

The delegation was welcomed by Javier Arias, delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in Lugo and Javier Vázquez, concejal del Concello de Lugowho expressed pride in seeing Lugo once again at the centre of a world-class event.
