Valk battles through to ninth overall in Switzerland

All eyes turned to the sixth round of the MX2 World Championship as the main race day unfolded on Easter Monday. The technical Frauenfeld circuit in Switzerland served up challenging condition for the riders, with deep ruts and rough bumps keeping them on their toes throughout the day. With limited passing opportunities, the importance of a good start couldn’t be overstated.

Unfortunately for Cas Valk, starts were not on his side aboard the Van Venrooy KTM. In the opening moto, the Dutch rider found himself outside the top ten, crossing the line twelfth on the first lap. Undeterred, Valk put his head down and worked his way through the field, making key passes to finish in a respectable eighth place.

The second moto proved to be tougher. A poor start left Valk buried outside the top fifteen, but once again, he showed his determination by fighting through to twelfth at the chequered flag. His consistent riding earned him ninth overall on the day—another positive step in his rookie MX2 campaign.

The MXGP paddock now takes a weekend off before heading to Agueda, Portugal for round seven of the series.

Cas Valk (9th overall): The Swiss GP was not easy. The riding wasn’t the best and I didn’t get the best starts on Sunday unfortunately. I am happy to leave healthy from there. So now the focus is on the next one!
