Top Ten Finish for Oriol Oliver in Home Grand Prix in Spain

Oriol Oliver from BTS Racing secured a top ten finish in his home Grand Prix in Spain. Oliver finished ninth in the second race after losing his chances for a top ten result in the first race due to a crash, which left him in fourteenth place.

The weekend started with a setback for the team. Jens Walvoort crashed the week before the race and sustained a muscle tear in his leg, along with a painful shoulder and back. Walvoort attempted to ride in practice, but the pain was too severe, and he decided not to participate further in the weekend’s events.

Oliver showed a good improvement on Saturday. After qualifying twelfth in the time training, he had a strong showing in the qualification heat and finished in a solid seventh place.

A good start in the first race allowed him to come out of the first lap in seventh place. In the early stages, he managed to hold his position well, but after a few laps, he fell in the tricky conditions and dropped back to fifteenth. Oliver recovered well and fought his way back to thirteenth. Unfortunately, he had to give up this position in the final stages and finished fourteenth.

In the second race, Oliver made a strong comeback. His start wasn’t great, so he had to work his way forward from outside the top ten. After three laps, he entered the top ten and then pushed through to eighth place in the following laps. In the final stages, he lost that position but finished a respectable ninth.

In the overall standings for the day, Oliver placed eleventh, and in the championship standings, he is now in fourteenth place. The championship continues next weekend in St. Jean d’Angely, France.
