Billy Bolt has won the first race of the SuperEnduro World Championship in Wilice, Poland. However, it was not without a struggle because after Bolt had won the super pole and the first final, he crashed in a battle with home rider Dominik Olszowy during the second final. He then ran into problems a few more times, and due to this he finished in fourth. Because Olszowy won the second final, it was exciting who would take the overall victory.
In the third final, Bolt put things in order and won ahead of Olszowy.
Jonny Walker was riding a consistent evening and managed to finish second in the superpole and in the first two finals. However, in the last final, his chain came off the bike, causing him to crash hard. He put his chain back on himself and managed to finish the race, which earned him a third place in the overall classification.
Ashton Brightmore and Cooper Abbott completed the top five in Poland.
Billy Bolt: “I’ve got to be happy to take the win here in Poland, especially in front of such a fantastic crowd, but it’s definitely not all gone my own way. SuperPole went well and then going into race one I felt good and was able to take the win. In race two, I took my time early on, but after that I pushed too hard to get out front and made some mistakes. Coming off the side of the track didn’t help, especially with how slippery the concrete is here in Poland, but thankfully, I was able to fight my way back to fourth. Entering race three, the points were tight for the overall, so the goal was clear – get out front and just manage my pace to the finish. Everything went perfectly, I was able to take the race win and the overall. It feels good to open my season with a victory, I’m already looking forward to Germany in a few weeks’ time.”
