Monster Energy Supercross
Injury List: Anaheim 1
A handful of injury updates ahead of A1.
In for Anaheim 1 |
Malcolm Stewart:Â Malcolm Stewart had a horrific crash on December 15 in Torino, Italy, and it was initially feared that he had suffered a season-ending injury before the term had even begun. Fortunately, however, no significant injuries were suffered, so he is ready to race at the first round of Monster Energy Supercross. This will mark his full-time MotoConcepts Honda debut.
Marvin Musquin:Â Marvin Musquin bowed out of a scheduled appearance in Paris in November with a knee injury, which continued to give him trouble for quite a while after that. Musquin is back on track now though and, whilst he may be not be one hundred percent, is ready to do battle. ’25’ didn’t make too big a deal of his issues in the pre-season press conference on Friday.
Aaron Plessinger: Aaron Plessinger was scheduled to race in Geneva, Switzerland, at the start of December, but bowed out with a minor back injury. No specific details were released, but it was clearly nothing too serious as he is prepared to make his 450SX debut this weekend and has plenty of seat time beneath his belt. Plessinger has not raced since the Motocross of Nations.
Out of Anaheim 1 |
Zach Osborne: Zach Osborne almost made it to Anaheim 1, but injured his collarbone and underwent surgery earlier this week. It has not been specified what race he will return at, as it is far too early for that, but it is thought that his recovery time will be approximately four to six weeks. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing have not filled his spot.
Weston Peick: Weston Peick suffered horrific injuries in Paris a month and a half ago and is going to make a full recovery. Multiple nose, eye and other facial fractures were sustained. There were two breaks in his jaw and a dual dislocation of the jaw bone from his skull also. Although he will make a full recovery, he will not compete at any Monster Energy Supercross rounds in 2019.
Christian Craig: Christian Craig was going to contest the 250SX West series for GEICO Honda but fell at Milestone towards the end of December and suffered a thumb injury. It is nothing too serious, thankfully, but it has forced him to shift his attention to the 250SX East division that starts in February. Cameron McAdoo has been drafted in as his replacement.
Benny Bloss:Benny Bloss crashed at Lake Elsinore on Christmas Eve and suffered a torn ACL, which is going to rule him out of the entire 2019 Monster Energy Supercross series. The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM squad have already filled his spot, as Justin Bogle is slated to contest all seventeen rounds with them. A1’s going to mark his KTM debut.
Chase Sexton: Chase Sexton was also going to compete in the 250SX West class for GEICO Honda, like Christian Craig, but injured his collarbone on an MTB. The injury is not going to heal in time for Anaheim 1 and, as a result of that, the first round of the 250SX East series in Minneapolis is his priority. 2019 marks his sophomore year in supercross.
Jeremy Martin:Â Jeremy Martin suffered a horrific blow at the fifth round of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, Muddy Creek, six months ago, as a crash resulted in a burst fracture of his L1 vertebrae. It was thought that he would be set to compete in Monster Energy Supercross at some point, but complications have forced him to withdraw from the entire 2019 season.
Deven Raper: Deven Raper, a popular privateer, broke his pelvis and nose whilst training at Milestone on November 20. The injuries are obviously significant and therefore, at the time of writing, there is no timeline on his return. Raper is unsure if he will even make it back before the end of the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross season.
