The way that Pauls Jonass has made his mark on the FIM Motocross World Championship has not gone unnoticed in Latvia; he has been nominated for multiple awards at an annual Latvia ceremony in recent years. Although he did not win athlete of the year this time around, as that award went to a tennis player, he did win the hearts of the public. Jonass was chosen as the most popular star.
"Once again, I'm very grateful for the recognition and the prizes given to me by the @gadabalvasporta yesterday," Jonass wrote on his social media after the awards. "Of course, this is another proof that I have the best people around me, without whom I wouldn't have been standing on the stage last night or, in fact, doing what I love most and living my dream."
Pauls Jonass was second in the MX2 class in the FIM Motocross World Championship this year and eventually signed a deal with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing outfit to step up to the premier class in 2019.
