It is finally official that round one of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship will be held at Neuquen, in Argentina, again. The announcement was made by Youthstream moments ago. The Grand Prix of Patagonia-Argentina was dropped from the calendar initially, hence why uncertainty has surrounded the opening round. It is now locked in though and just one TBA is left on the twenty-round fixture list.
"It is great news to be back in Argentina for the opening Grand Prix of the season," David Luongo said in an official statement. "The circuit of Neuquen is, for most of the riders, the most beautiful track of the championship and its location in the middle of Patagonia is breathtaking. We really want to thank David Eli from Mas Eventos along with the local and national authorities making this Grand Prix possible. We are sure that it will be a great success and will bring a lot of attention and exposure Argentina."
The 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship will begin in Argentina on March 10. There will then be a weekend off before the Grand Prix contingent reconvene in Europe at Matterley Basin.
