After missing the last three rounds with a hand injury, which was sustained in practice at the Grand Prix of Trentino, Hunter Lawrence will return to racing in Latvia this weekend. Lawrence initially targeted the Russian fixture for his comeback, but felt that his hand was not ready to race at that event.
Now, just ten days on from the Grand Prix of Russia, Hunter Lawrence has told MX Vice exclusively that he does not believe the hand will be an issue anymore. However, he has still missed a significant amount of time and it remains to be seen where he will slot in during his return. There is no doubt that he will only get better from this point on though. Lawrence currently sits twelfth in the championship standings and has a single podium finish to his name.
Hunter Lawrence will be the only rider beneath the 114 Motorsports awning at the next couple of rounds, it is worth noting, as Bas Vaessen will not return until the Grand Prix of France at the earliest. Vaessen withdrew after the Portuguese event with a severely injured adductor muscle. Livia Lancelot, the team manager, mentioned that the team would be looking to sign a fill-in rider, but it seems that no progress has been made in that department.
