Update: Covington News

Positive news from Thomas Covington

29 April (20:58)

Thomas Covington has now confirmed that he has ridden twice this week and did not really have any issues, so he will be on track in Russia. After failing to score points in Portugal, because of that knee issue, Covington now runs eleventh in the series standings, but is just a couple of points from a position inside of the top ten. A season-best finish was acquired at the Grand Prix of Trentino, as he won the second moto and finished second overall.

"Finally got some news from the doc today," Thomas Covington said in a statement. "Luckily I’ve only torn my meniscus and partially tore my ACL in the left knee. Not the best news, but could be worse! Hoping it's strong enough to race at the next round in Russia." Covington spoke in-depth about what happened at the event in an exclusive MX Vice podcast that was conducted on Sunday evening. After tagging his knee in a turn during the first moto at the Grand Prix of Portugal, Thomas Covington was in too much pain to take part in the final race and elected to head for advice on his injury. Now, three days on, the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing has shared some positive news on his social media accounts.

After not scoring points at the Portuguese event, Thomas Covington now sits eleventh in the series standings. There are two weeks to go until the Grand Prix of Russia, round six of the current campaign, which will be run at the beginning of May.
