Following an impressive debut in the premier class, HRC have signed Christian Craig for the remainder of the Monster Energy Supercross series. Craig filled in for the first time on Saturday night and immediately entered the top five in the overall classification, thanks to a 6-7-5 scorecard.
"Team Honda HRC is happy to announce that Christian Craig will fill in aboard a factory CRF450R for the remainder of the AMA @SupercrossLIVE season," the team announced via social media. Rumours were floating around that Chad Reed was going to end up as a fill-in rider for the squad, but the statement squashes those. It is fairly unorthodox for a factory outfit to go racing with two replacement riders and Reed was advertising for more VIP guests earlier today too.
Following the first six rounds on a 250F, Craig sits sixth in the standings with a season-best finish of third. Twenty-seven points separate him from the current leader, Aaron Plessinger, but he obviously will not attempt to close that down. GEICO Honda will be represented in the 250SX West class by Chase Sexton.
