Bowers accepts fill-in deal

Kawasaki fill their empty seat

Josh Grant succumbed to injury at the previous round of Monster Energy Supercross, Arlington, and left Monster Energy Kawasaki looking for a fill-in rider. Teams with an energy-drink sponsor are typically required to have a certain numbers of bikes on track, so Tyler Bowers has been drafted in to sit alongside Eli Tomac. The news was confirmed via social media.

"Tyler Bowers will be lining up for team Monster Energy Kawasaki this weekend at round eight in Tampa, FL, riding the No. 69 KX450F," the short statement said. "He will be filling in for the injured Josh Grant as he recovers." No exact details have been revealed about the injury that Grant sustained, but he did release this message yesterday. "Well sh*t," he wrote. "Happy it's not worse and bummed it even happened! Out for a few weeks and we will be back kickin [sic] in no time."

Tyler Bowers currently sits seventeenth in the premier-class standings, despite the fact that he missed the second round to clinch a championship in Germany. It remains to be seen how long he'll spend aboard the factory bike.
