When Petar Petrov bowed out of the Hawkstone International with a collarbone injury, the promoters were left scrambling to find a suitable replacement. Nathan Watson, a former winner in the Maxxis British Championship, has now been confirmed as a late entry in the premier division. Watson currently resides in the World Enduro series.
It will be yet another intriguing story to follow at the historic British event, as it will offer a great reminder of just how capable he is. Watson is no stranger to the race, of course, as he did it last year and finished seventh overall in the MX1 class, then a couple of months later he showed up at the penultimate Maxxis British Championship round as a wildcard. Third overall was acquired on the day, following a sixth and a second in the two motos.
Nathan Watson's younger brother, Ben, will also compete at the Hawkstone International and make his debut for the Kemea Yamaha squad. Ben is also set to race at the opening round of the Italian Championship this weekend.
